NEW DELHI: SBSP chief Om Prakash Rajbhar, an ally of the Samajwadi Party, on Friday announced his backing for NDA’s presidential nominee Droupadi Murmu adding to the list of opposition parties like
Shiv Sena, JD(S) and JMM who have pledged support to the tribal leader, reports Neha Shukla. Rajbhar told reporters that his alliance with the SP stays for now.
“The support I have extended to the NDA is only for the presidential election,” he said, adding, “As long as the SP wants, we will stay in the alliance.” The SBSP has six MLAs. Although Rajbhar said the alliance with SP is intact, their estrangement has been out in public for some time. Rajbhar expressed his displeasure when SP chief Akhilesh Yadav didn’t invite him for a meeting with the opposition’s presidential candidate
Yashwant Sinha last week. Next day he attended a dinner hosted by CM Yogi Adityanath to honour Murmu.
