Drive to bring business owners under GST in Gautam Buddh Nagar

NOIDA: The commercial tax department in GB Nagar will soon start a special campaign to bring business units in the district under the goods and services tax (GST) net.
Officials have already started collecting data on such businesses from registered traders’ associations and government departments. The department will then reach out to the business owners.
The campaign is aimed at informing business owners that GST registration is free of cost and they can also apply online on www.reg.gst.gov.in. GST returns related to zero purchases and sales can also be filed through SMSes. “For small- and medium-sized traders with an annual turnover up to Rs.1.5 crore, there is no need to file returns every month. While for traders with annual turnover up to Rs 5 crore, the facility of filing quarterly returns is available,” an official said.
