Bid to destabilise AIADMK will not succeed, says EPS

Salem: Launching a scathing attack on chief minister M K Stalin, AIADMK interim general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami said the attempts by ‘enemies and traitors’ to destabilise AIADMK would not succeed.
In his maiden public meeting, after becoming the party’s interim general secretary, in Salem on Friday, Edappadi K Palaniswami said Stalin was making multiple attempts to weaken AIADMK but in vain. “He is taking several avatars to defeat AIADMK. But it will not happen because this is a party guarded and guided by the spirits of Amma (J Jayalalithaa) and Puratchi Thalaivar (M G Ramachandran)” he said.
EPS, who was making his first visit to his hometown Salem after being elected interim general secretary was given a rousing reception in Salem. Terming Stalin as “inefficient CM”, EPS said the chief minister was neither aware of the happenings in the country nor the requirements of the people.
“Tamil Nadu is ruled by a CM who doesn’t know what is happening in the state,” he said.
“People are waiting for AIADMK’s rule again,” he said, listing the projects rolled out during the AIADMK regime. “But what have you done in the past 14 months,” he asked of the DMK government. EPS alleged that none of the promises made by Stalin had been implemented so far. “Stalin will announce a scheme and constitute a committee for it. He has set a record of sorts in forming committees. The schemes, however, would not be implemented,” he said.
Earlier, speaking among cadres at Thalaivasal, EPS said enemies and traitors have joined hands and got the AIADMK office sealed. He alleged that certain elements were bent upon usurping the party office. “AIADMK cadres will defeat their plans,” he said.
EPS alleged that Stalin was desperate to make AIADMK inert using the government machinery. “If you wish to decimate AIADMK using the government and power, you will be disappointed. The AIADMK will bounce back to power again,” he said. EPS noted that 13 DMK ministers were facing multiple cases and issued a veiled warning that they would face action.
“Those who set out to destroy us, will be destroyed themselves,” he said. EPS said that AIADMK was the only party where a cadre like him who started out as branch secretary could become interim general secretary. “Ours is the only democratic party,” he said.
