Students orphaned by Covid-19 get free education

Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district administration has lauded two educational institutions—Nehru Memorial College in Sullia and Nitte Institute of Nursing Sciences here—for offering free education and hostel facilities to two students, who have tragically lost both their parents due to Covid-19.
The Dakshina Kannada Child Protection Unit has identified 11 children, who lost both their parents due to Covid-19, and they are being taken care of by their relatives. One of the students, a boy from Sullia, was offered a free seat for a diploma course by Nehru Memorial College in Sullia.
Meanwhile, Nitte Institute of Nursing Sciences has offered a free seat to a girl from Uppinangady.
DC expresses gratitude
The institututions have provided free seats and accommodation facilities, based on the request of deputy commissioner K V Rajendra. The DC has expressed his gratitude to the institutions.
