BHUBANESWAR: The government has been laying special focus on improving school infrastructure and arresting the dropout rate, school and mass education minister Samir Ranjan Dash said in the state assembly on Friday.
Replying to an adjournment motion on the state of school education, the minister said so far Rs 6,267 crore has been spent on the infrastructure development of 3,12,482 schools. For the current year, an amount of Rs 319.16 crore has been sanctioned for 12,466 schools, he added. He further said funds have been sanctioned for the development of the infrastructure of 1,867 primary schools. The government has released Rs 432 crore for creating additional classrooms, library, science labs, toilets, electrification and for arranging other accessories in 512 high schools in the state, he added.
