IBF) for agriculture for Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts, has forecast heavy to very heavy rain to be likely at isolated places over coastal
Karnataka during the next 24 hours, and heavy rain at isolated places, in the next four days.
Hence, the advisory suggested that farmers can postpone all agriculture activities like sowing, spraying, fertiliser application, harvesting and paddy transplantation, for the next five days.
Fishermen have been advised to stay away from the sea, and in arecanut orchards, farmers can make necessary drainage facilities to drain out water, to prevent koleroga.
Meanwhile, IMD has forecast heavy rain, warning that from Saturday to Wednesday, heavy to very heavy rainfall, in the range of 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm, is likely to occur at isolated places over all the districts of coastal Karnataka.
IMD has predicted high waves in the range of 3.5m-4.6m, till 11.30pm of Saturday, along coastal Karnataka, from Mangaluru to Karwar. Current wind speeds vary between 49cm/sec-69cm/sec. Squally weather with wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph, is likely to prevail over coastal Karnataka till Saturday.
