RANCHI: The admission process in universities of the state is likely to be delayed due to the government’s plan to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) from the current academic session. The drafting committee formed by the government to prepare the curriculum framework of universities has submitted its report to the human resource development department on Thursday, sources said.
The curriculum framework comprises the broad guidelines including the number of papers in each semester, hours of classes, credit system and criterion of promotion of students.
Associate Professor of Ranchi University Raj Kumar Sharma said, “The committee comprises representatives of universities located across the state.”
After the approval of state government, the universities would be asked to prepare their syllabus. Subsequently, admission process would begin through the Chancellor portal.
The graduation course will be of four years under the NEP.
The enrolled students would get a certificate of graduation after successful completion of one year, a degree of bachelor after three years and a degree of either research or honours in bachelor after four years. The master’s degree would be of one year. The courses would also be multi-disciplinary.
It may be stated here that in view of the delay in declaration of results by CBSE, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has recently asked the universities of the country to ensure that the last date of admission process is fixed after the declaration of CBSE class XII examination results in order to ensure that students get sufficient time to get admission.
