COIMBATORE: A 34-year-old man was stabbed to death by his friends at BK Pudur in Coimbatore.
The murdered man has been identified as A Santhoshkumar, 34, of LIC Colony at SIDCO near Sundarapuram.
The Kuniyamuthur police arrested J Sri Hari, 24, of Ashok Kumar Nagar at BK Pudur for the murder. His elder brother J Sudhir, 29, an acting driver, was absconding.
J Manikandan of Saibaba Colony, the elder brother of the murder accused men, has been running a wedding decoration firm in the area for more than a decade. Santhosh joined as a business partner in the firm two years ago.
Recently, Santhosh left the partnership business and started doing event management on his own. He demanded that Manikandan give him Rs 4 lakh as settlement.
Manikandan paid Rs 3 lakh and gave a cheque for the remaining amount of Rs 1 lakh to Santhsoh on July 13. Manikandan’s younger brothers Sudhir and Sri Hari came to know about the money transactions. The duo got angry over Santhosh separating from their elder brother’s business and starting his own business.
Sudhir contacted Santhosh over the phone around 1 am on Thursday and asked Santhosh to visit his home located at BK Pudur to return the cheque. He assured Santhosh that he would pay Rs 1 lakh in cash after receiving the cheque. Believing his words, Santhosh went to Sudhir’s house around 1.30am. Sudhir abused Santhosh in a foul language and threatened him with dire consequences.
Sudhir’s younger brother Sri Hari held Santhosh Kumar . Sudhir took a knife and stabbed Santhosh's left side hip. When Santhosh tried to prevent them, he suffered injuries on his left index finger. Santhosh Kumar fainted due to severe blood loss.
R Murali Manohar, 30 of LIC Colony at SIDCO, who accompanied Santhosh, took him to a private hospital. Santhosh in the hospital on Friday morning.
