7-year-old Boy dies in Patiala hit-and-run

PATIALA: A 7-year-old son of labourers died in a hit-and-run incident here on Thursday while playing on the roadside with other children. The driver involved abandoned his jeep and fled.
Victim Kartik was from Rohri Kut Mohalla. Running in from behind a tractor-trailer parked on the roadside, he came into the speeding jeep’s path and was crushed. He was moved to Patiala’s Government Rajindra Hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead, Kotwali station house officer (SHO) S S Cheema has claimed.
The SHO said: “We impounded the jeep and booked its driver after identifying him to be from Sanaur. A manhunt for him is on. The boy’s body will be handed over after autopsy.”
