Coimbatore: Woman, 22, daughter, 6, drown in lake

KRISHNAGIRI: A 22-year-old woman and her four-year-old daughter drowned in a lake near Krishnagiri on Wednesday night. They went there to wash clothes and take bath.
The Maharajakadai police identified the deceased as V Rajeswari, of K Poosaripatty, and her daughter Shivanya. Rajeswari’s husband P Vasanth, 35, is a mason.
“When Vasanth returned from work on Wednesday night, his wife and daughter were not home. He came to know that they went to the nearby lake. When he went there, his wife and daughter were not there. Subsequently, he approached us,” a police officer said.
As it was dark, the fire and rescue services personnel searched the lake the next morning and found the bodies. The officer said Shivanya entered the lake first and got trapped. “Rajeswari tried to rescue her daughter, but she too drowned.”
