NEW DELHI: Three persons have been arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl in their neighbourhood, the Delhi Police said on Friday. The gang rape incident happened on July 6, when the girl, a Class 10 student, went for a car ride with the accused from the Vasant Kunj area.

The three men, aged 23, 25 and 35 years, are private taxi drivers, police said. An FIR has been registered against all accused. According to a family member, the girl went from Vasant Vihar with the three persons in a Wagon R car. She returned home the next morning, and informed her family about the incident, after which they took her to Safdarjung Hospital.

The girl informed the police that two of the accused were known to her. They had met her near Vasant Vihar market at about 8.30 pm on July 6, and offered her a fun ride with another boy who had come in his car. They bought liquor at Mahipalpur, which was consumed by all four.

They later drove the car to a lonely place, where she was raped by two of the men inside the car. “The girl was medically examined and a case under Protection of Children From Sexual Offences Act and IPC was registered at the Vasant Vihar,” police said. Further probe is underway.
