Over 3,000 additional farmers are being covered under agriculture credit through kisan credit cards so that they can buy seeds and fertilizers.
GUMLA: Gumla administration has rolled out an integrated agriculture plan to help farmers in the current kharif season.
Gram pradhans who are also tillers and others are being trained by the agriculture department in association with Krishi Vygyan Kendra, while health cards have been distributed among the farmers to maintain soil health.
Over 3,000 additional farmers are being covered under agriculture credit through kisan credit cards so that they can buy seeds and fertilizers.
“Around 26,450 farmers have benefited under the subsidised seeds distribution programme, while 1,87,000 hectares have been covered under rice cultivation, 16,000 hectares under pulses and 1,790 under coarse grain, and 7,040 hectares under oilseeds," said Gumla district agriculture officer Ashok Sinha.
Seven blocks of the district have been brought under the ambitious Jharkhand Opportunities for Harnessing Rural Growth Projects popularly knows as Johar Project with the sole aim of enhancing farmers households income through high value agriculture, irrigation, livestock, eggs farming and others as allied sectors in the district, said Sujit Bari, district manager of Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society Ltd.
On the administration move, Gumla DC Sushant Gaurav said, “The objective is to help the farmers by boosting agriculture which is so vital in their life.”
