KRISHNAGIRI: Charred bodies of a 47-year-old woman and her 17-year-old son were found in their house near Uthangarai here on Thursday morning. The Kallavi police suspect foul play as the door of the house was locked from outside.
A police officer identified the deceased as S Kamala, of Sengalpatty near Kallavi, and Guru. Kamala was a homemaker and her son was about to join a college after Class XII. “Kamala’s husband had three wives. Kamala had a property dispute with her husband’s another wife Sathya,” the officer said.
On Thursday, neighbours noticed thick smoke emanating from Kamala’s house. Immediately, they alerted police, who broke open the front door. “We found two charred bodies inside. Since the door was locked from outside, we suspect it to be a case of murder,” the cop said.
Uthangarai DSP Alexander refused to name suspects and said their identities would be revealed only after inquiry. The bodies were send to the Uthangarai GH for postmortem.
