GURUGRAM: Ahead of Kanwar Yatra, the police have made extensive security arrangements for the safety of pilgrims. Senior police officers said a dedicated path will be set up for the devotees along all main roads so that commuters are not disturbed. This, they said, will also ensure the devotees’ safety during their journey, which starts on July 15.
“Police force has been deployed on all possible routes that are used by pilgrims. In addition to local police, an adequate number of traffic cops have also been deployed,” said ACP Preet Pal Sangwan.
Police said they have also set up a dedicated lane reserved on the KMP expressway for pilgrims.
“Instructions are being given to several organisers to set up the shivir at a distance of at least 100 feet from main roads and 50 feet from internal roads. They are also directed to operate loudspeakers at a low volume, for which a permission from the district administration will have to be obtained,” the police said. The police said ambulances, cranes and fire tenders will be stationed at critical spots for quick response in terms of emergency.
“As many as 75 ERVs, 31 PCRs and 124 riders have been deployed for 24x7 patrolling to minimise traffic disruptions and ensure safety of the pilgrims,” a police officer said.
