Salary of Haflong civic staff not paid for 18 months

Silchar: Employees of Haflong Municipal Board in Dima Hasao have not been paid for the last 18 months while nearly 3,000 employees of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) have not been getting their salary for the last six months.
A section of employees of the Haflong municipal board told the media that they have been passing their days in a starvation-like situation. “Despite several deputations, the authorities failed to make regular payment of salary. We can neither run our households nor pay our children’s fees. We have come to understand that nothing has changed during the BJP regime in Haflong municipality. BJP has been carrying forward the legacy of disorder of the Congress,” said an employees to the media. The employees said they will launch a ceasework if their salary is not paid immediately.
Meanwhile, Haflong municipality chairman Manjit Naiding could not be contacted for his comments.
Employees of NCHAC said they have recently received their salary for the month of December 2021 only, said a spokesman for the council.
