3 jail inmates attack another

Ludhiana: Three jail inmates attacked another inmate using some sharp-edged weapon, while the victim was sleeping in his barrack, on Tuesday night.
The injured inmate, identified as Harpreet Singh, was taken to the Ludhiana civil hospital for treatment. After the treatment, the inmate was sent back to the hospital.
Deputy superintendent at Ludhiana central jail, Satnam Singh Bhatti said the jail authority has identified the three inmates who attacked Harpreet, as Deepak, Sahil and Yuvraj. They had a fight on a petty issue after which the trio attacked Harpreet. He suffered minor injuries.
Bhatti added that a complaint has been sent to the Division number 7 police station to lodge an FIR against the accused inmates.
8 mobiles recovered
from Jail
In three separate cases, the Ludhiana central jail authorities recovered eight mobiles. Two mobiles were recovered from inmates Gurwinder Singh and Baljeet Singh, whereas six mobiles were found abandoned. FIRs have been lodged in this matter by Division number 7 police.
