Mercury drops after rains in Haryana, Punjab
The maximum temperatures registered a drop at several places in Haryana and Punjab on Thursday after rains lashed the two states and their common capital Chandigarh. The showers brought much needed relief from the sultry weather. Chandigarh received heavy rain in the evening, according to the meteorological department. Ambala, Hisar, Karnal, Narnaul, Rohtak and Yamunanagar in Haryana and Amritsar, Patiala, Pathankot, Ferozepur, Gurdaspur and Kapurthala in Punjab received showers during the day, it said. (PTI)

Heavy rain, massive winds wreak havoc in northern parts of Kerala
Incessant rains and unprecedented winds have wreaked havoc in northern Kerala in the last few days with rivers overflowing in parts of Kasaragod, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts necessitating shifting of people to shelters. As many as 427 people, including two pregnant women, seven children and one differently-abled person, have been shifted to eight rehabilitation camps opened in Wayanad district, official sources said. Landslide kills father-son duo in Jammu & Kashmir's Reasi
A man and his son were killed in a landslide in a remote village in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Thursday. Mohammad Shafi (65) and his son Abdul Rashid (30) were on the way to home when they came under a landslide, triggered by rains, at Thillu-Kalad village in Arnas area Wednesday evening, they said. Villagers retrieved the bodies of both the deceased from under the debris, the officials said, adding they were later buried after the completion of legal formalities. (PTI)
