Srinagar: Former J&K CM Farooq Abdullah said on Wednesday that militancy in the Valley will end only when the government wins the hearts of the people and initiates a dialogue with Pakistan to find a resolution to the Kashmir issue.
Abdullah, who represents Srinagar in the Lok Sabha, said till the time the Kashmir issue is not resolved, people of the region will continue to suffer and get killed. "The caravan of militancy won't end till the time you do not try to win the hearts of the people of J&K and start a dialogue with the neighbouring country and find a resolution of this issue," Abdullah said in Srinagar.
Referring to the recent killing of J&K police officer Mushtaq Ahmad, he said, "In 2020 his son was killed by the military and today militants killed Mushtaq... We don't understand who is the killer here and who is the saviour. We condemn his killing and urge the government to give him good compensation so that his family survives with respect."
