PATIALA: The appointment of some party volunteers as self-styled heads of government departments in Nabha by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Gurdev Singh Dev Mann in his segment has invited critcism from opposition.
Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira targetted
Punjab CM over the matter. He tweeted: "Dear @BhagwantMann, if your MLAs are to appoint their henchmen as 'incharge' of government departments, why don't you disband the executive of Punjab and hand over the reigns of government to your appointees! Is this not throwing the Constitution to winds?" said Khaira.
Nabha MLA Dev Mann said the move was aimed at the welfare of people.
"As I remain busy sometimes in meetings or other schedules, these volunteers will be acting as coordinators between the constituents of Nabha and the officials as they will take the grievances of people to the officers to get these addressed," he said.
Dharamvira Gandhi, former MP from Patiala, called the decision unconstitutional and unnecessary interference in the working of the government and executive.
