A young woman IAS officer posted as Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Badnagar in Ujjain, around 160km from Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal, had taken the social media platforms by storm after she, in perfectly fearless and belligerent style, slammed a senior politician who was interfering in her work and threatened to get her removed during an ugly altercation.
As netizens saw a sharp divide over the choice of words used by the young IAS officer against a relatively aged politician, majority of social media users hailed her courage in her early days of career.
Who is Nidhi Singh, an IRS to IAS officer
According to the information available, Nidhi who has got her IAS career’s first posting in Badnagar in Ujjain hails to Noida and had cleared the UPSC exam in year 2019, in her second attempt. With an overall rank of 289, she was assigned the Madhya Pradesh cadre. However, earlier Nidhi has also worked as IRS officer serving as Assistant Commissioner with the Income tax Department from 2016 to 2019. She holds a B.Tech degree. She had completed her probation in Rajgarh district.
What was the feud?
On last Friday at main square of Barnagar’s village Bangred over the issue of water logging on a bridge and rain water was entering nearby houses nearby. Patwari Mohammed Naseem Khan along with a JCB reached at the spot to clear the mud, but a BJP worker Jagdish son of Member Singh opposed it and reportedly manhandled the staff. He then summoned former MLA Shantilal Dhabai who reportedly directed the revenue staff not to carry out the work. The revenue staff then informed about the incident who rushed to the spot along with policemen. She also called one more JCB machine on the spot. Meanwhile, Dhabai started asking the SDM to put a pipe from another place to drain the water, to which the SDM replied that she knows very well where to put the pipe. In the reply, Dhabai not only committed indecency but also threatened to get her transferred from Barnagar. To this situation, the SDM also got furious and lashed out at the Dhabai with some stern words. “Tu Hota Kaun Hai Puchhne Wala, Kitne Din Naukri Karungi. Tameez Se Baat Kar, Nikal Yahan Se…. were some of the words used by Singh against the former MLA who was whisked away by his supporters from the scene. Dhabai reportedly called up in charge minister Jagdish Devda and asked him to get the officer removed from the post. The BJP workers too have demanded action against the young officer. As the video of the feud went viral, several heaped praises on the officer for her courage while several others objected to her arrogance and choice of words.
