KALYAN: In a major development in the long-pending demand of locals for new Kalyan-Murbad railway line in Thane district, the newly formed Shinde government has promised to bear 50% of the expenses. The government has sent a letter to the Railway Board in this regard.
The 28-km railway line will be constructed between Kalyan and Murbad via Ulhasnagar railway station under the Rs 863-crore project that was approved by the Railway ministry in 2019. It is expected to be completed by the year 2027. The completion of the line will meet the local residents' decades-old demand and give a fillip ot the development of Murdbad, an under-developed rural area. -
