KOLKATA: A road rage resulting from an argument over parking and honking illegally in front of a school off Park Street led to a youth allegedly stabbing a school teacher’s son on Wednesday morning when the latter had come to drop his mother to school. The incident was reported from the Park Street-Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road crossing around 8.30am. Accused Zeeshan Alam (22), a resident of Collins Street, was arrested.
The victim, Shaaz Abedin (23), whose mother is a teacher of the girls’ school, had to get 11 stitches on his chin. The Beniapukur Road resident was rushed to a private hospital in the Minto Park area after the incident. According to the police, the accused had come to drop his kin to the school on a two-wheeler. The victim was trying to park his car close to the school gate so that his mother could enter the school easily. Abedin alleged that the accused had kept on honking even when he reminded him that he was outside a school.
Incidentally, the entire Park Street school zone is now a no-honking area where cops regularly penalize motorists.
“The two men suddenly picked up a quarrel over the issue. Alam took out a knife from his pocket and attacked Abedin,” said joint CP (crime) Murlidhar Sharma.
