GURUGRAM: Partly cloudy conditions along with moisture-laden light winds during the day led to a rise in humidity levels in the city. The minimum temperature was recorded at 26.4 degree Celsius and the maximum at 37.2 degrees.
A yellow alert has been issued by India Meteorological Department (IMD) for northern Haryana districts for July 14. These districts are Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Kaithal and Karnal. No warning has, however, been issued for Gurugram .
Humid conditions will continue in the city for the next few days and the maximum temperature is likely to hover around 35-37 degrees Celsius. “There are very less chances of rain from July 15 to 18. Humid weather conditions will continue across Haryana. On July 19, there is a slight chance of rain in both southern and northern Haryana,” said Manmohan Singh, director of IMD Chandigarh.
Doctors, meanwhile, have urged people to stay healthy during the season.
Dr Rajnish Monga, head of gastroenterology & hepatology, Paras Hospitals, said, “Monsoon poses a greater risk of contracting vector-borne diseases like malaria and water-borne conditions. High moisture content of air encourages the growth of various microorganisms that can cause many ailments. There are many microorganisms that directly harm the stomach, resulting in conditions such as diarrhoea, pain, jaundice and even typhoid.”
On Wednesday, Gurugram ’s air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 58 or ‘satisfactory’ category.
Meanwhile, Delhi is likely to see a four-degree rise in the maximum temperature on Thursday. On Wednesday, the city saw trace of rain at base station Safdarjung, which was too low to be recorded. The weather department has predicted light to very-light rain on Thursday.
The city recorded a maximum temperature of 37.1 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season’s average as against 33.3 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. The minimum temperature was 26.8 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season’s average, as against 26.2 degrees Celsius a day earlier. The humidity oscillated between 95% and 58%.
