Dhar: Elderly man attacked for trying to stop illegal cultivation on government land

Dhar (Madhya Pradesh): Two persons were injured, when a group of people attacked an elderly man with sticks and stones over a land dispute here at Latamali village of Dhar district on Wednesday.

According to information received, the incident took place in Latamali village of the district on Wednesday, when an elderly man identified as Sardar Roopchandra (55) tried to stop a group of people who had started cultivation on government land, following which the clash broke out. Around six people attacked Sardar and his neighbour Sop Singh with sticks and stones. On receiving information, police rushed to the scene and the situation was brought under control with officials monitoring the situation. The injured man was admitted to a nearby hospital from where he was referred to Indore Hospital.

Acting on the complaint made by Sop Singh, a case was made against six people under relevant sections. Five arrests have been made in this regard and a manhunt has been launched to nab the remaining accused. Those arrested have been identified as Chhagan, Jamsingh, Kailash, Jagdish, Rugan. The accused will be presented before the court following the medical report. Further investigation is underway.
