It's not over for the Bad Boys just yet.
In an interview with Ebony magazine, Martin Lawrence, who stars in the franchise alongside Will Smith, said: "We got one more at least."
The original 1995 film, in which Lawrence and Smith play police detectives Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey, grossed over $141 million worldwide. It was followed by sequels Bad Boys II in 2003 and Bad Boys for Life in 2020.
Reflecting on the first film's success, Lawrence told the publication that "it was big".
"For us to come together and prove that we can deliver, and we can pull people into the box office - that two Black stars, two sitcom stars, could make money at the box office [was huge]," he added.
The 57-year-old further dismissed speculation that the fourth film was cancelled after Smith slapped Chris Rock on stage at the Academy Awards in March.
In May, Sony chairman Tom Rothman told Deadline that reports that the film was stalled were inaccurate.
"That movie's been in development and still is. There weren't any brakes to pump because the car wasn't moving," he said.
