Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 1.38%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of Aurobindo Pharma(up 4.52 per cent), Laurus(up 4.08 per cent), Divis Laboratories(up 2.48 per cent), Granules India(up 2.32 per cent) and Lupin(up 2.16 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Gland Pharma(down 1.63 per cent), Alembic Pharmaceuticals(down 1.06 per cent), Strides Pharma Science(down 0.47 per cent), Pfizer(down 0.18 per cent) and Natco Pharma(down 0.06 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.38 per cent up at 12622.3.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 91.65 points at 15966.65, while the BSE Sensex stood down 372.46 points at 53514.15.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 ended in the green, while 22 closed in the red.

Shares of , Zomato Ltd., , and ONGC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of GRP Ltd, , , and hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Foods & Inns, Vikas Proppant & Gr, , and MIC Electronics hit their fresh 52-week lows.
