Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.42%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

Shares of Mindtree(up 1.64 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(up 0.76 per cent), L&T Technology(up 0.54 per cent) and Infosys(up 0.41 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Tata Consultancy(down 1.49 per cent), HCL Technologies(down 1.08 per cent), MPhasis(down 0.83 per cent), Tech Mahindra(down 0.73 per cent) and Wipro(down 0.6 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.42 per cent down at 26949.75.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 91.65 points at 15966.65, while the BSE Sensex stood down 372.46 points at 53514.15.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 ended in the green, while 22 closed in the red.

Shares of , Zomato Ltd., , and ONGC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of GRP Ltd, , , and hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Foods & Inns, Vikas Proppant & Gr, , and MIC Electronics hit their fresh 52-week lows.
