GREATER NOIDA: Three to four men damaged a Thar with sticks after their Toyota Etios rammed the SUV from behind in Dadri on Tuesday morning.
As the attackers tried to break the windshield, the two occupants of the SUV — costing around Rs 18 lakh — ran away to safety, fearing they would be beaten up too.

The road rage incident took place around 9.40am on the GT Road. “We received a call that a group of men had damaged an SUV and it was lying in the middle of the road. A team of police officers rushed to the spot and spoke to the occupants of the car. But by then, the miscreants had fled the scene,” said Nitin Kumar Singh, ACP - 2 (Greater Noida).
Police said Faizaan, a resident of Dadri, and his friend Sajid Mewati had taken the Thar to a car accessories shop. The SUV belongs to a friend.
“They had reached the Dadri municipality cut on their way back when a car hit their SUV from behind. As they stopped, two men came out of the car behind the Thar and started banging on the bonnet of the SUV with sticks. A few more men joined them and damaged the SUV badly. They wanted to drag the occupants out, but they escaped,” Singh said.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras. Footage showed the vehicles moving slowly on the wet road because of a turning ahead. Just then, a white Etios rams the Thar from behind, unable to apply the brakes in time because of the slippery road. The attackers come out of the car and start damaging the SUV with sticks.
The police said they had received a complaint from Faizaan and Sajid and registered an FIR under sections 279 (rash driving), 323 (causing hurt) and 427 (mischief) of the IPC at Dadri police station.
“We have detained the owner of the Etios and are questioning him. He was not present in the car at the time of the incident. Efforts are being made to nab the miscreants involved in the road rage,” said Rakesh Kumar, the SHO of Dadri police station.
