COIMBATORE: With the fresh Covid-19 cases on the downward trend in Chennai, the health department on Wednesday stated that the curve is entering a plateau in Coimbatore district.
For the fourth consecutive day, the district reported fewer than 120 cases, with 116 cases being clocked on Tuesday.
Speaking to TOI, Coimbatore’s deputy director of health services (DDHS) Dr P Aruna said the plateau would continue for a few days until a descending trend in caseload is observed.
Compared to the last week's trend when the majority of patients exhibited only mild symptoms, infected patients are now seen with moderate symptoms like fever, cold and cough, she said.
Aruna said Covid-19 hospitalisation is less than 2% while the remaining cases are being placed under home quarantine as their health condition was stable.
"Even as the condition of symptoms has changed from mild to moderate, there were no patients with breathlessness or oxygen level dropping in their body or with severe health conditions. The patients are admitted to healthcare facilities only if they are symptomatic and comorbid," she said.
