Maharashtra reports second case of Zika virus in Palghar

MUMBAI: Maharashtra on Wednesday reported a second case of Zika virus from Palghar district.
A 7-year-old girl from Ashramshala at Jhai (Block Talasari) was found to be infected with Zika virus in Palghar district.
The National Institute of Virology, Pune has confirmed the case.
Prior to this, the first ever patient in the state was found in Pune in July 2021.
The public health department said that preventive and control measures in terms of surveillance, vector management, treatment and health education efforts have been started.
