Rajkot: A jeweller from Rajasthan was cheated of Rs 20 lakh by four people, who promised to get him gold at cheaper rates.
Janak Soni, a jeweller from Jodhpur, got in touch with accused Hasmukh through some other trader. Hasmukh promised to get Soni cheaper gold and asked him to come to Rajkot. On June 29, Soni arrived with Rs 20 lakh in cash and met Hasmukh and three other accused — Jayesh, Dharmendra and Raju — in a hotel. After taking Soni’s cash, the four took the victim on a drive up to Limbdi saying that a person would come and deliver the gold.
However, they stopped at a highway tea stall, and when Soni alighted, the four drove off with the cash. TNN
