#DearNothing hashtag went viral on social media platforms. The #DearNothing started trending in India just hours after the launch of Nothing's first-ever phone Nothing Phone 1 at an event in London. It was actually an #hashtag that expressed outrage and anger towards the brand Nothing from the tech community in South India.

What is the #dearnothing controversy over
The #DearNothing started trending after a popular YouTube Channel 'Prasadtechintelugu' released a video on the evening of the Phone (1) launch. The video claimed that he received an empty box from Nothing that had a letter inside which read: "Hi Prasad, this device is not for South Indian people. Thank you." The video creator apparently created the video to protest Nothing not sending Phone (1) review units to regional content creators in India.

The fake letter in the video was taken as real by many people and soon '#DearNothing' trend emerged as one of the top trends on Twitter. These Twitter users slammed Nothing for what they termed insult of South India. Most of these users seem to be unaware that the letter shared in the video is not real as they have shared the screengrab of the letter in their tweets.

What is Nothing's response to the controversy
Nothing so far has not officially responded to the incident yet. However, it is entirely a brand's prerogative who it sends the product review units to.
