MYSURU: Ahead of Dasara season, tourism stakeholders in Mysuru are urging the government to bring a single- ticket entry system to important tourist destinations.
Tourists sometimes face problems, especially during weekends and holidays, at popular destinations as they have to stand in queue to buy tickets to enter the places they want to see. To eliminate the waiting period for visitors, introducing a single-ticket system would be helpful.
B S Prashanth, the tourism campaigner and director of the Karnataka Tourism Society, said: “We have been pressing for a single-ticketing system for hassle-free entry for tourists visiting Mysuru, which has been attracting visitors from different parts of the country and such a system would definitely be helpful to tourists. As the bar-coding system of entry is in place at most tourist destinations, this would come in handy.”
For instance, visitors coming in groups in buses have to waste time buying tickets at all places like the Mysuru Zoo, Mysuru Palace, Railway Museum and Chamundi Hills (for special entry only).
On the lines of the
Dasara gold pass issued during Dasara celebration, there can be an entry permit. The gold pass gives easy access to many tourist places including the KRS Dam, Palace, Zoo and venues of various Dasara programmes. Likewise, a permanent system must be brought, Prashanth said.
Hotels too must be brought in to issue the single-entry tickets for visitors.
Prashanth said: “We have requested the government to launch the system starting this Dasara celebration and discussions are under way.”
