Deoghar: On Tuesday, July 12, 2022, during his visit to Jharkhand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated to the country the In-Patient Department (IPD) and Operation theatre services at AIIMS Deoghar. Prime Minister Modi had earlier stated, "In keeping with our commitment to offer top-quality healthcare services, like IPD and OT at AIIMS, Deoghar, would be inaugurated."
The establishment of these new facilities at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Deoghar, according to the centre, will aid in achieving the dual goals of providing the population with super specialty health care services and building a sizable community of health workers for the benefit of the area.
Jharkhand residents as well as those from nearby states of Bihar and West Bengal will be served by the AIIMS hospital in Deoghar.
In August 2021, the Outpatient Department (OPD) and night shelter services were launched. It's interesting to note that Prime Minister Modi set the foundation stone in 2018 and that, in just 4 years, the AIIMS hospital is now open and offering Occupational Therapy (OT) and IPD services. Additionally, academic lectures and hostel housing for medical students have begun at the AIIMS Deoghar campus.
The AIIMS site will include a multi-specialty hospital with 750 beds, a 1000-seat auditorium, a 100-seat MBBS college, a dorm for students, and housing for the in-house personnel.
The construction work for AIIMS hospital was given to NKG Infrastructure Ltd, New Delhi firm by National Building Construction Company (NBCC). The work is being conducted by Ministry of health & family welfare under PMSSY (Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana) scheme.
