Fear of flood grows as rivers swell in NK

Hubballi: Moderate to heavy rain continued in North Karnataka on Monday and most rivers and streams are swelling, creating the fear of flood among people. The Almatti dam received an inflow of 81,910 cusecs by 8 am on Monday and outflow was 30,000 cusecs.
There was an increase in discharge of water at the Kallol barrage by 13,350 cusecs. Outflow from the Narayanpur dam to the Krishna river was increased up to 30,000 cusecs. From the Narihalla reservoir, 400 cusecs was released as Sandur taluk received incessant rain in the Ballari district. Inflow is increasing in the Tungabhadra river. Huvina Hadagali, Harapanahalli and other taluk administrations have cautioned people not to venture into the river. The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in the next five days. A yellow alert has been issued in Dharwad, Belagavi and Haveri districts. tnn
