Bakrid celebrated with gaiety in Kanpur

KANPUR: The festival of Eid al-Adha was celebrated with much gusto and gaiety in the city on Sunday. The festivities continued on Monday. On Sunday, Namaz was offered at over a dozen Eidgahs and at several mosques. People of Muslim community prayed for the well being of the country, brotherhood, peace.
Huge crowd of Muslim men turned up at Badi Eidgah at Benajhabar to offer Namaz. People were not allowed to offer Namaz on the roads. Thus, all were urged to read Namaz inside the Eidgahs or the Mall premises and the same was followed. Drones were used to monitor the activities here. Heavy police force remained deployed at places where Namaz was offered. After Namaz, people greeted each other on the occasion. People then proceeded to their homes and carried out the task of sacrificing animals. People visited each other’s home and relished the taste of delicacies. Everyone was decked up in new clothes. The children were the most excited. They had a fun time. Tight security arrangements were in place due to the festival. The day passed off peacefully. The police and district offiicials heaved a sigh of relief.
