Ranchi: Chief minister (CM) Hemant Soren has silenced critiques by camping in Deoghar in Santhal Pargana, a couple of days before the scheduled arrival of Prime Minister (PM)
Narendra Modi. He chaired a meeting at Deoghar on Sunday to oversee the preparations for hosting the Prime minister and also reviewed the preparation of the district administration for the month-long Shravani Mela, beginning Wednesday.
While this gesture is different from many of his counterparts in other states, where chief ministers have skipped PM’s programme, the JMM is trying to hit two birds with one stone. The tribal party is silencing its critiques by demonstrating high standards of co-operative federalism and claiming a share of credit in projects that would be inaugurated and launched by the PM. BJP’s concerted effort to showcase the projects as gifts for the state by the central
BJP unit stands diluted with the active participation of state government.
The CM on Monday at Gandhi Maidan in Jamtara laid the foundation of 30 projects worth Rs 153.99 crore and inaugurated 98 projects completed at an expense of Rs 41.08 crore. He also distributed assets worth around Rs 103.62 crore among beneficiaries of different schemes under different departments.
Earlier, Soren had laid the foundation of 251 projects worth Rs. 153.97 crore and inaugurated 17 projects completed at an estimated expense of Rs.51.68 crore in Godda on July 6. He also the gave nod to release the state’s share of Rs 23 crore for the construction of rail overbridge near western cabin of Sahebganj Railway station and the inaugurated long-awaited Fossil Park in Rajmahal in Sahebganj district on June 30.
JMM general secretary Binod Pandey said, “Narendra Modi is the PM who deserves welcome by a chief minister of the state.”
