Woman, minor daughter burnt to death

Chatra: A 30-year-old woman and her minor daughter were burnt to death allegedly by her husband and her in-laws on Sunday night in Kani Khedi village under sadar police station limits.
The deceased were identified as Kuladi Devi and her 3-year-old daughter Anjali Kumari. Local sources said that the woman would often have fights with her in-laws and her husband, identified as Jagdish Yadav. On Sunday night, she had a fight with Jagdish, following which, the locals noticed smoke coming out of their house. The next morning, they found that the mother and daughter were dead. The woman’s parents have lodged a complaint against Jagdish and his family members. Assistant sub-inspector Shashikant Thakur said, “We will wait for the post mortem report. We will lodge an FIR on the basis of the complaint filed by the woman’s parents.”
In another incident, a 24-year-old woman was set ablaze reportedly by her lover at the latter’s house in Tapej on Sunday night. The victim, who has suffered 90% burn injuries, is currently admitted at a state-run hospital, Ranchi where her condition is said to be critical.
Sources said the woman’s lover reportedly runs a prostitution racket and he was forcing her to join it, which allegedly led to a fight between the two. The man then stripped her, set her on fire, locked her up in his room and fled .
The officer-in-charge of the police station said, “The accused has been arrested.”
