AHMEDABAD: A team of Gujarat Anti-Terrorists Squad (ATS) along with Mohali police on Monday evening seized 75.300 kg of heroin worth Rs 376.5 crore from a cargo container in Mundra port.
The drugs were concealed in the hard paper rolls of cloth. ATS officers got an input that 540 rolls brought from Ajman port in
UAE were suspicious, said officers of
Gujarat police.
The consignment was sent in the garb of textile materials by a UAE-based company named Green Forest General Trading to the Gujarat port, said the officer.
Cops located the rolls at a container freight station in Mundra from where they found the drugs concealed inside the cloth rolls.
After concealing the drugs in rolls, the accused wrapped it with cotton and a blue tape so that it cannot be seen in the x ray machines at the port. The drugs consignment was supposed to be delivered to Punjab.
