Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government has issued an order implementing the "Jagananna Videshi Vidya Deevena" scheme to give financial aid to students who wish to pursue higher education abroad in order to complete professional and graduate degrees.
The government has chosen to implement the "Navaratnalu" programme in order to rebuild the entire system put in place by the previous administration and to concentrate on high-quality education in foreign universities. Every year, between September and December and January and May, a notification will be sent out. A committee led by the Chief Secretary to the State Government will examine the selection procedure.
Eligibility for the scheme
According to the press release from the Chief Minister's office, only qualified students who are accepted into one of the top 200 universities in the world as determined by the most recent QS world university rankings would be eligible for financial aid.
The chosen applicants who are accepted into one of the top 100 colleges or universities will be eligible for 100% tuition support. If a student is chosen for admission to one of the next 100 colleges or universities (i.e., institutions or universities that are rated 101 to 200), they will be eligible for financial aid covering 50% of the tuition.
Scholarship for PG courses
In the case of PG courses, the scholarship will be paid to the approved students in four equal payments to the listed bank account. Subject to the individual enrolling in the course and the candidates chosen by the selection committee, sanction proceedings outlining the total eligible amount for the course will be awarded to the individual toward fees in the form of a grant. The candidates may use the sanction processes to apply for a visa at the relevant Embassy.
Upon presentation of a valid visa and entrance information, a one-way economy class ticket (lowest rate tickets) for the quickest route must be paid. Upon submission of a valid visa and payment receipts for the visa fees, the student will be repaid for the entire amount of the visa expenses.
After the fourth instalment is released, the student must provide a Utilization Certificate, which must be approved by the appropriate university officials for the scheme's record-keeping needs.
