THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Balaramapuram police have initiated a probe after a youth was stabbed to death at Russelpuram on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as
Vishnu, 22, a resident of Kilimanoor.
According to police, the incident happened around 10pm.
Vishnu along with his friend Shyam were travelling on a two-wheeler when they got into an altercation with two other persons who were on the way in their opposite direction.
The police said that there was an exchange of words over going in the wrong direction on a curve. Vishnu halted the two-wheeler and picked up a fight with the other two. In the altercation, Vishnu was reportedly assaulted and stabbed on his left chest.
The police said that the stab wound was deep and although he was rushed to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital, he was declared dead on arrival.
The police haven’t identified the suspects.
The investigating officer said that the CCTV footage collected was not clear and it has been difficult to identify the suspects.
The police have formed special squads to track down the two-wheeler. Vishnu and Shyam were employed at a tar mixing unit.
