THANE: A 17-year-old boy from Rabodi, Thane was rescued by civic officials after he fell in the Kalwa creek late Monday, officials informed.
Luckily, the boy held on to the bridge column else he could have got swept away due to currents, said officials.
Officials informed the incident occured around 9.30pm when the boy was walking over the narrow pipeline bridge across the creek along with his friends when he lost balance and fell in the waters.
"Luckily, he managed to hold on one of the pillars of the bridge while his friends alerted the police and rescue teams. The civic rescuers reached out to the stranded teenager nearly 300feet away from the shore using a dingy and rescued him," informed Avinash Sawant, chief at the regional disaster management cell, Thane.
The boy was taken to the government hospital for primary treatment.
