LUDHIANA: The Congress has launched an attack on chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for seeking land from central government for another Vidhan Sabha building. Lashing out against Mann, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary Parminder Mehta has claimed that Mann is playing into the hands of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Mehta said, “It is very unfortunate that chief minister of Punjab has made a demand for land for making new Vidhan Sabha for Punjab in Chandigarh. This demand by Mann has weakened the stand of our state only Punjab has right over Chandigarh as its capital city. Mann made this demand via a tweet and it is very unfortunate that rather than opposing demand of Haryana for land for new Vidhan Sabha, he cited example of it and said Punjab too should be allotted land on same pattern. Instead of urging centre to reject Haryana’s deman, Mann has ended up supporting their demand. This development stinks of a well planned conspiracy between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and BJP and it strengthens our apprehensions that both parties are hand in glove with each other.”
“Mann still has time to correct his mistake, He should write to the Centre and demand that Haryana should make Vidhan Sabha somewhere else,” Mehta added. tnn
