Belagavi: Eight of the 66 pilgrims from Belagavi district who had gone on Amarnath Yatra returned home safe on Sunday. The pilgrims were stranded briefly after the recent cloudburst that killed several devotees.
The eight who returned on Sunday were in one group and have returned to Manjri village of Chikkodi town. They left Bealgavi on June 30 from Pune for Delhi, and from there to Srinagar on a flight.
They reached the Amarnath cave and got the darshan. They were returning to Srinagar when the cloudburst happened.
Deepak Pawar, who was among the eight, said: “We, all eight friends, went to Amaranth. We were lucky. We experienced transport problems while returning but the Indian Army helped us reach Delhi. Later, we came to Pune and today morning we reached Manjari.”
