The Maharashtra government on Monday gave Rs 4 lakh compensation to Sunita Ghosha, wife of the late Ramesh Ghosha (51), who drowned during the incessant rains in Gatipada-Charoti in Dahanu on July 4.

Ramesh's body was found a day later and the post-mortem report by the Cottage Hospital Dahanu confirmed a case of drowning as water had entered his lungs, causing his death.

On Monday, Dahanu Tehsildar Abhijit Deshmukh, along with Ashima Mittal, Additional Collector and Project Officer, visited the victim's house and issued the cheque from the Revenue Department as it was a death due to natural calamity.
