Guna (Madhya Pradesh): As many 36 rebel leaders from Guna were suspended from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the next six years ahead of the second phase of local body elections in Guna. Action has been taken after these rebel leaders decided to contest against party authorised candidates.
Earlier, the party has also shown the door to 14 rebel leaders who are contesting against the party candidate in Guna municipality polls. Locals claimed that this time the list of rebels in BJP is very long and the party is in no mood to spare any of the rebel leaders for going against the party.
From Guna municipality to Kumbhraj, Chanchoda, Madhusudangarh and Aaron municipal council, 50 BJP leaders are contesting against the party candidate. In Guna municipal elections, the rebels have spoiled the party candidate's game at many places. In some wards, the rebels are expected to win.
Elections to these four councils are to be held on July 13 and more or less the same situation may arise in many places in these four municipal councils as well.
Earlier, BJP has shown the way out to the leaders who are contesting the elections as rebels. Seven such leaders in Aaron Nagar Parishad, eight in Kumbhraj, 10 in Madhusudangarh and 11 in Chanchoda have been sacked from the party.
