Goa: Police force posted outside St Cruz ward, locals anxious

Residents expressed doubts that police are conducting checks for security reasons.

Police have been posted at the entrance St Agostinho Ward in Santa Cruz, Goa which has caused apprehension among the locals. Speaking to the media, a locl informed that the police personnel have been posted at the entrance of various areas of the ward for several days now.

A resident was quoted saying that the police maintained that they were stationed because of panchayat polls. The resident further said that panchayat poll schedule is yet to be announced and also expressed concern over the police stationed only in their lane.

Another resident commented that the police are misinforming them; they expressed doubts that police are conducting checks because of security reasons. They further said that if police gave them accurate information, they can take precautionary measures for the safety of locals.

MLA Rudolf Fernandes, said that he was also is being kept in the dark. He was quoted saying that he has suspicions of something grave happening that even the Old Goa police is not aware of and the personnel are being posted outside St Aghostino ward on directives from the higher authorities.
