Panaji: Bicholim teen Anvesh Bandekar has scored 99.94 percentile at the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main — 2022 session I, for entry into one of the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology.
The results for session I were declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Monday, where Anvesh was declared the state topper for Goa.
He is the son of anaesthetist Dr Shubhangi and water resources department engineer Sandeep.
“I will be answering the JEE Main session II as also the NEET and the JEE Advanced. Answering these is my main target as of now. Based on my performance, I will take a decision on which stream and programme to join, though I am a bit more inclined to join one of the IITs,” said the student of Mushtifund Aryaan Higher Secondary School, Cujira.
In 2019, student Jai Prakash Gurav from the same school had scored 99.98 percentile at the exam. Anvesh’s score has come in as the next best.
“Anvesh and his batchmates have studied online throughout the past two years and have come out with amazing results. We had an earlier record where 14 students from the same batch scored above 99 percentile. The 2022 batch has outdone this and 15 students from the same class have attained above 99 percentile,” said director of Mushtifund Aryaan Higher Secondary School, Vyankatesh Prabhudesai.
Aashish Zantye, another Goa student who trained with Mushtifund Aryaan but answered the exam from Sindhudurg, Maharashtra, has also managed to score 99.95 percentile.
After Aashish and Anvesh, Aditya Parsekar had the best-known score of 99.83 percentile from Goa.
