Madhya Pradesh: IIT INDORE signs MoU with NHAI

The Institute will explore the possibility of adopting the trees to be removed during the construction of the highways inside its campus at Simrol through transplantation in coordination with the forest department.

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): IIT Indore and NHAI came closer to working in various areas by signing an MoU. This MoU covers areas of technical consultancy in improving the quality of construction, alignment corrections, and other services by IIT Indore. Cdr. Sunil Kumar (Retd.), PRO of IIT Indore, said "NHAI will extend financial assistance to the Interns of the Institute. This MoU is a part of a green initiative for both organizations and it will set a model for future road development projects. In addition to this, the Institute will explore the possibility of adopting the trees to be removed during construction of the highways inside its campus at Simrol through transplantation in coordination with the forest department."

The Civil Engineering Department of IIT Indore will be the nodal point to take forward the engagements between the Institute and NHAI. It was also broadly decided to work for road safety and to improve the quality of highway construction in Central India. IIT Indore will also extend the test facilities in its Laboratories.

On Saturday, 09 July 2022 Shri Vivek Jaiswal, Regional Officer, Bhopal, and Shri Manish Asti, Project Director, NHAI-Indore visited the IIT Indore campus to meet Prof. Suhas Joshi, Director, IIT Indore. The MoU was signed in the presence of the Dean of Infrastructure, Head of Civil Engineering, and other senior officials of the Institute.
