Delhi - How Geeta & Geeta got hubby bumped off: Paid Rs 15 lakh to killers, plotted for 3 years

NEW DELHI: On the evening of July 6, 45-year-old Sanjeev Kumar was returning home from the market on his bike with his wife, Geeta, and son. He suddenly lost balance of the bike and they fell down.
While Geeta and her son were unharmed, Kumar bled profusely and died even as he was rushed to a nearby hospital. However, his autopsy left everyone, including police, shocked as it said that Kumar had died of a gunshot wound.
DCP (Southeast) Esha Pandey formed a team led by inspectors Jagdish Yadav and Manjeet from Govindpuri police station to catch the killers. Geeta soon became a suspect as she gave conflicting answers and even tried to lead the investigators to probe some DTC employees who had apparently threatened her husband at the workplace.
When Geeta’s phone was checked, cops found a photograph of the licence plate of Kumar’s bike in the deleted pictures folder. The photo was clicked on July 5, sent to someone and deleted the same day.
During interrogation, Geeta broke down and revealed that her husband had a second wife, who was also named Geeta. The two women had joined hands and plotted the murder to get rid of Kumar. They had planned to usurp his property and divide it among themselves.
The new Geeta’s original name turned out to be Nazma. The first wife lived with her son and two daughters in a rented accommodation in Dakshinpuri.
Relations between Kumar and Nazma got strained two-three years ago after she found out that he was already married and had given her his first wife’s name after marrying her. She then got in touch with the first wife and shared their ordeal.
Nazma and Geeta got in touch with the former’s cousin, Iqbal, and asked him to arrange for a contract killer. The two women saved money for three years and gave Rs 15 lakh to the shooter, Nayum, two weeks ago.
On July 5, Nazma informed the shooter that she would go to the Govindpuri market to buy vegetables the next day with her husband. Nayum and Iqbal took position near a petrol pump in Sukhdev Vihar and shot Kumar when he passed by. Nazma and Geeta, apart from Geeta’s daughter Komal, have been arrested for being a part of the conspiracy. Raids are being conducted to nab the two hitmen.
